There are variables, i will give you that. My wife and i ride in my car rarely without the kids. So we mostly take her car. We we do all ride in the vert i don't take the highway cause my kids are 2 and 6 months. Or if i do i put the to up. However my wife enjoys the top down and if us just the two of us she always prefers to take the vert.

Where i live you take the highway everywhere, Florida don't you know. So the speeds average 80 or so. But i guess my wife is the oddball and prefers the wind.

As for hair, its not long per se, but past her shoulders. She usually Rocks it down

20 minutes at an average speed of 45 is a far cry from 30 min+ at 70+.

especially when that wind does nothing but whip your hair into your eyes and leave your scalp feeling like it survived a hair pulling competition. :D
if e30s had zip out/down rear windows like classic roadsters that would have been ideal, don't you think?

        you should get one

when you leave and it's warm out you can flip it down. when it's flipped down it doesn't interfere with the wind at all and you can store groceries under it without them blowing around.

if you want more room the OEM comes with a really nice canvas bag that stores perfectly in the trunk.

later at night when you head back if it's cool in any way you can ride with the top down and even the windows down but with the windscreen flipped up the wind will still blow mildly in the cockpit but it won't whip from behind and blow your hair in your face.

it basically negates those times you *have* to put the top up. you know those times, they do exist as much as we may hate to admit. with a windscreen I don't even have my softtop installed anymore. during rain season I put my hardtop on and the other 364 days I ride around without any top at all ;)
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

I prefer the OEM windblocker as it fit much better when installed and it reduced turbulence more than the aftermarket one.

Other than price & personal preference the biggest difference to my mind is...finding a used OEM windscreen is harder than finding a hardtop. Last time I asked my dealer he said there were 2 new ones in the system, both in Germany so the aftermarket one really seems to be the way to go if you just want one now.

To me, the windscreen is a must-have but I only put the top up a few times a year as the car is garaged at home and at work.

When I left for work last Wednesday, it was 39 degrees and as always, I had the top down from the day before.

Put the seats on high, raised the door windows about 4", heat on, screen up and forty minutes later when I got there I had that stupid smile that only riding in the 'vert puts on my face.

I bought my screen from the dealer years ago. Didn't know they are now hard to get but if you can find one, I highly recommend it.

I just got a windscreen yesterday and I can't wait to see how it is (have to fix some little front suspension stuff first). The sole reason I have a soft top is in case it suddenly starts to rain and the car's parked somewhere outside. I've never driven my car with a softtop up.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I have a windscreen and I must say it is awesome to have. I was wondering if anyone knows where you can get one with patterns or different mesh material in them like the red one in this brochure. I have seen a few in the past but wasn't sure if it was a factory option or someone stitched in new material.
