would you spend money on black grills

seriously who self respecting (broke) e30 owner would spend 40 bucks plus shipping on flat black kidney grills when we can just paint them flat black for 5 bucks????

Maybe because of those who want black grills that won't chip or peel. And isn't cheap, will buy them? There is people out there with nice e30's that dont want every mod on their car to be involved with a spray can.

I just dislike blacked out kidneys in general, spray can or no spray can.

Me too, but have seen a few e30's that pulled the black kidney off pretty good. But that was very few. Most of the time it looks like the grill is just missing from the car.

          Moved to cosmetics huh?

Just found it odd that someone was actually selling these.

Yeah, the grill is part of the cosmetics of the car. So it got moved to the appropriate section. General Discussion is not a catch all to post everything in.

I have yet to see an E30 with them that I liked, though I think my E39 pulls them off pretty well. I have the originals so I can switch back whenever I like. I spent a total of $25.

I like black kidneys on later model BMW's because they are separated by the body coloring of the hood.

I hate black grills on any e30. It looks horrible and just cheap. It ruins the look of the the grill and the whole front end because it just looks like no grill is there and it blends in. The grill looks great, why try to hide it?

because spray paint will flake off in a year, and look like a shit stain on your front end.

ehh...you can probably use the same can of paint on the grills every year for longer than the car will live. I personally like black grills on most BMWs, e30s included.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I, personally, am not a fan of chrome. I sprayed my grills satin black and they're still holding up nicely. It's been about a year and a half now.

ok. since I've actually done the painted grilles thing - and a good can of paint is more like $12. $40 is piss all, and now I'll never have to touch them again.

I love the look of the OEM chrome grills, it brings the whole front-end together. It gives it more character and definition to its lines.

I would definitely pay for the black chrome ones. Almost bought some for my e36. Black looks better on newer bmw's. not e30 e28 e34 etc.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)
