ha - yeah, you banged on the very specific features that bug me. Believe me - i certainly put thought into how that lower edge of the plates/frame is lower than the filler plate.. and mostly kept coming back to how modifying/chopping/bracketing/making it even was more work than it was worth. Stock shit, stock mounting holes, etc. is something I enjoy.. only just do it as clean and simple as possible. Less parts = less fuss = less trouble.

I like the use of frames because otherwise, it looks like one is hanging a chunk of cheap, thin gauge, reflective, scrap metal on one's car - which is basically what one is doing sans frame.. as if the frame becomes cosmetic damage control.. and plate frames that proclaim advertisement of ANY sort turn my stomach.

..after having said that - the game was to down-play everything in/with black - and to minimize visible surface area of what I consider to be an unattractive adornment upon one's lovely vehicle..

as far as partially covering up state-indication lettering. Fuck 'em. Rocking up a taped front still trumps no plate - and any copper in the state of WI is going to recognize that as a WI plate..

ug.. no front plate needed and that atrocious color design is a bittersweet compromise there..

Way to go - state of Georgia !!

I like the Colorado plate, nice and simple.

Wish we weren't supposed to run a front one...

Alabama has rear plates only. I have the Iraq version.

Oregon recently got this new plate:

              Standard plate looks like this:

You can also re-register old plates. So if you were to find a set of plates from the 60's/70's/80's you wanted to run, you can.

the mass plate is pretty damn simple, and a very neutral color scheme...now if they would only get rid of the front plate requirement

NitroRustlerDriver that new Oregon plate reminds me of some of the old style plates. Very plan and just two basic colors. Nice and simple.

Yes I do, why do you ask?

And to all: if you trim the edge around a US plate (at least on the California plate, there's kind of a lip around the whole edge that's maybe 3-4mm) it will fit perfectly in an euro plate filler.

This is interesting. I have to register my car in august (moved from WA) and i have some vintage Oregon plates from my dads old hot-rod that i'd love to re-register with that new/vintage looking plate style.

                              Thanks for the heads up.
