Fitting fogs on early BBS valence??

I bought an early BBS valence with the fog light slots like these. I think the fog lights realy set it off compared to one without fogs.:

My plan was to throw it on my euro 325ix which looks like this:

The problem I am having is the front valence. When I line them up the e30 valence has the mounts for the fog lights integrated and sitting just a bit higher than the BBS. IF you try to put the bbs over the stock, then the fogs are recessed and slightly too high. It seems you would remove the stock front valence and mount the fogs/bracket directly to the bbs valence, but the mounts are not the same and the bottom of the oem valence seems like its in the way.

I can't remove the stock valence because then that removes the 'strip' across the grille where the kidneys rest. How am I supposed to run fogs that are integrated so well like the above pictures? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

I'm 95% sure you need the 83-85 euro valance. It will have the part below the grills separate from the valance itself. Also the fogs mount to the body on the 83-85 euro e30. I maybe wrong on needing the very early valance. If so, someone please correct me.

Thanks Jason, do you have any pictures of this? I have never seen it, even in the valence thread detailing the difference between the euro/american valences didn't have it. I can't find it at the moment.

Looks like I was wrong, The fogs will be too recessed in and sit to high also with the earlier valance.

Here's the valance I was talking about

Then I found this picture, note the fogs are mounted to the BBS itself and there is no metal valance behind it.

You may have to do like I did with my Zender valance. I epoxied studs to it and used euro e28 fog lights. I know ZM Blue Devil has had a car with this Valance in his shop here, so maybe he'll chime in.

Maybe you can mount them like this, how the standard e28 spoiler mounts fog lights:

I can try that, here is a picture of the problem. You can see the valence is as high as possible below the grille piece that holds the kidneys and the fog light slots don't quite line up.

I have not tried it, but it seems if I use the above suggestion and mount directly to the valence it would collide with the bottom of the existing valence fog light slot.

How have other mounted fog lights to their aftermarket valences?

You could get a US valance and cut it so the back of the fogs don't hit it. The fogs on my Zender sat into the euro valance fog light holes. But then again I had the earlier valance. I also see that you put chrome around the grills. I did that to mine,

I saw pictures of your car and that is how I got the idea to match the chrome side moulding, chrome bumpers and chrome wheels. I may keep my eyes out for another us valence, the bbs valence would cover the gaps where the diving boards connect.

Sorry didn't see this until now, but it turns out the bbs is supposed to mount to the two piece early model valance. I found one in the junk yard on an '84 model and snagged it and repainted.

You can see the mounting holes on the middle pictures, just the same 8 mm bolts hold it on. I will be adding something to the back side of the valance so I can mount my fogs onto it and or remove them

So it seems ill have to add a little something to the back side too in order to use e28 fogs, but will my 87 american is valence work or will i need to source a euro early valence?

i believe an early model valence should work as long as you don't have a bbs front spoiler or something else that you are trying to fit up or you will have problems like I pictured above

So im lost now. i have a early euro two piece valence, and you say the bbs goes right over it but one post before this you proved that the fog cut outs were too recessed and too high.

My question is, should i not put the metal euro valence on because ill have to fabricate the fogs onto the bbs plastic valence itself?

Not to threadjack, but how did you put that chrome around the grille? is it a rare piece or was this an option or did you make it yourself? i love it, looks really nice.

                              Correct.

IF you have the two piece valence, the top section that holds the kidney grill should be installed, but the bottom section should be removed. Then my bbs valence mounts to where the bottom section normally would have mounted.

That way when I mount the fogs to the bbs valence the lower section of the valence is not in the way. Does that make more sense?
