M3 pieces fit 88 cabrio? Added Pics (on page 2)

Anyone know if a stock E30 M3 front and rear valence/bumper cover, and side skirts, would fit my 88 cabrio (with diving boards tucked)?

An even stranger question - would the front and rear fenders fit on my chassis?

    Thanks!

I think you forget that the M3 is widebody, and the bumpers and side skirts flare out wider, so no, they won't fit.

I've seen it done on lots of E30s, so I know it can be done. I don't know if they use some bondo or something to fill the gap at the fender or what. I'd try to put on some M3 bumpers in a minute if I knew exactly what was involved. They would go with my new side skirts pretty well.

it can be done a good handful of people have done it...believe a guy on e3s tried to show his but everyone boo'd him away because of his crome motorsport wheels
believe its almost as simple as heating up the sides and pressing them in so they aren't flared s much

to make the bumpers fit, you'd probably have to soften the plastic and bend the sides inward so they line up with the fenders. as far as doing the actual fenders, the front bolt on (duh), but the rear require so much work it's not worth it. If you just do the bumpers, those will look pretty damn good on a normal E30.

Wow, I always forget how those bumpers stick out. What's with the huge gap in the middle on that one though?
Do M3 bumpers mount to a valence or anything like the 84-87 spoilers would? Or hell, do M3's even have a valence?

that looks like a poor example.. look at the huge gap between the upper part of the valance and the bumer :(

Thanks all. Trying to come up with some solution to my dog's breakfast body kit:

Was also looking into an Mtech 1 kit, or at least side skirts!

you already have lower rear fender arches, and a rear skirt.. why not do a late front valance and bumper swap? it'd probably be cheaper than Mtech and would look a heck of a lot cleaner with an is lip :)

Im trying to decide the same as you are i think. I have a 91 but it unfortunatly came with diving boards. So i want to switch, but im not sure if i want regular plastic bumpers because it will just look like an ordinary 91, minus the taillights. Id like something diff, so im taking my time to find something that i like.

Im not really a fan of many of the bodykits out there.
I dont have enough money to go Mtech2.
Ive seen reg. plastic bumpers with the mtech 2 valance, but i dont like it all that much.
There arent many more options that i have tried.

I like this idea with the M3 bumpers. Id like to see more pics of non M e30s With M3 bumpers on them if anyone has pics. It seems like a different idea, thats worth considering, if i dont have that huge gap between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the grill area.

would the convertible M3 fenders work on a non M convertible??? Beacause the M3 convertible lacked the unique trunk design of the non convertible M3. If they did work you could try to find some in europe.

I assume the bumper shocks from an M3 would be needed. Someone here has got to know how they would fit. I have a pre-88, so it would be hard for me, but probably simpler than '89-91 rear bumper since the m3 is all 1 piece.
