pretty sure they are not urethane - the plastic is more on the stiff end rather than the rubbery end. plus, they tend to crack when you run them over, not deform.

They are ABS Plastic and they do break easily....

To my knowledge OE lips are not ABS, they're Urethane.

ABS or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Is still rather brittle and prone to cracking, though it tends to be more "Elastic" at low stress levels than the urethane you find in the OE parts which generally tends to be more "plastic".

For example, urethane bumpers are designed to absorb shock, they will deform, but more likely then not will never return 100% to their original shape. They are more "elastic" than metal but will absorb impact energy more effectively than ABS or other plastics which is why they are used in modern bumper coverings.

This deformation makes them less prone to cracking but also means there will always be evidence of the collision. ABS can flex a certain amount before it fails, if it stays below that threshold it will normally return to its original shape without much in the way of deformation.

If you've ever twisted a urethane part like they do in demonstrations you will notice it doesn't exactly go back to normal right away, and can crease irreversibly if you go to far.

My real Rieger lips has born torn off a few times. I've bottomed out on it countless times and I've hit it hard several times as well. Finally, it tore off and I RAN IT OVER (hit a 2 foot "puddle" in a flash flood). Only then did it sustain damage. But only to non-visible parts. It cracked the bottom edge on one side, not even visible when mounted, and easily repaired with plastic weld.

It's still a good option if you don't want the Eurostyle piece for whatever reason. It's not a complete POS.

A lot of people here keep saying the OEM iS lip is ABS plastic. A lot of people here are retards.

The OEM iS lip is PUR-GF plastic. (extremely flexible and resilient)
The Geuine Rieger Infinity lip is ABS plastic (which shatters)

Looking at this thread only made me sad. With my official Rieger lip broken I'm out 237 bucks as I posted earlier. I need a replacement but I always liked the Rieger and even though the IS lip is cheaper, its just missing that 30 degree angle the Rieger had...
