I applaud your efforts. If you can get them finished looking with gel coat, what would you ask for a full set of 4 (for 2 door)?

haha guys... There isnt much wight to lose in door panels... So it will pretty much be cosmetic. That panel probably cost about $5 in resin, and $7 in carbon fiber (i got a lot cheap off ebay). The most expensive part will be replacing my cardinal door panel if I dont get this right :) I'm going to use some thicker stuff like I said earlier, maybe two layers.
I'll go at it alittle more scientifically next time also, using a 1:1 ratio of resin to fabric by weight. As soon as I find some vacuum bagging material, I'll get at it.
As for the door... Maybe in a couple of years, I'd like to get some quarter panels done first :)
rscheiring- Ask me in a month
Thanks for your input guys

Looks good man. I am pretty familiar with fiberglassing from fixing surf boards, I might try to make some CF pieces.Comment

Haha... Actually hes right...
Its carbon nylon... When its dry and not gooped up with resin its a really pretty silver. Its pretty soft and weak fabric, thats why i'm going to try it with some thicker carbon fiber.
But JDM... Seriously man, your on a bimmer forum... Get a new name

is the nylon cheaper than carbon, my guess is yes. And is it strong/light enough for things like m/s50 valve cover covers? and cosmetic stuff or could it work for a hood , trunk lid, and maybe some doors.
I think someone else has the sunroofs covered, but I would like to know what a couple 12lbs doors would cost.Comment
