Replace tacho face - removing and reinstalling needle ?

When replacing the tacho face you need to remove the needle, how do ensure it is put back to the correct position? is it is simple as seeing the natural position where it sits when the post/stop is removed and reinstalling to that?

how do you remove the post/stop without breaking it? is it just a matter of pulling straight up with needle nose pliers?

any adhesive needed for reinstalling needle?

I have but some tape, where can draw line. I have look in youtube videos, some say spin it, othes say use fork to lift it up, but when you lift it up, should use some small long pliers to hold that pin. I have broke one tacho when spinning, but i have been lucky when just pull it, but be cafell. I haven't used any glue when installed it back

I did this recently. Needle lifts straight off & snaps bag on, no adhesive. There’s a you tube video where a guy uses 2 spoons. I don’t recommend that. I used plastic trim tools & put a card stock on the face soI would not scratch the face.

I was extra cautious & invented my own method.

I cut a hang tag so that I could slip it under the needle & taped it where the tape wasn't touching the face . I also aligned the slit w the needle so i would know where to align it.
