Haha im in the proccess of doing the exact same thing! I used auto zone vynil/fabric paint and got one light coat on and so far it looks really good! one more coat and it should be done. I used the FLAT black. I took my seats out and taped the crap out of everything! If you can, do this outside cuz i'm doing it in my 1 car garage and the fumes from the spray really get you messed up and dizzy......:nice:

It will fuck up your brain for a bit. I used flat I am only seeing wear on sunroof section but it is not visible unless you lift up the panel.

I'm surprised no one else had said it, but I think it looks really good. Much cleaner than stock! When I first saw it I thought it was a vert haha.

i finished spraying my headliner with the flat black vynil and carpet paint and it looks really good! pretty much looks like it came stock black! really easy to do and cheap, i used almost 2 cans i think.

So did you guys take off the visor where the sunvisors are or did you just leave it and tape it off? I'm thinking about doing this tomorrow. I just did my parcel shelf today because it was blue instead of dark grey. So I might as well go down to O'Reilly's and pick up a couple other cans and pretty up my interior.

I masked mine and then touched it up later

I think I'm going to go with the "paint in a can with sponge brushes and rollers" method. I'll report back with pictures.

Hey , my bro bought a 2002 a few years back with a black vinyl interior and E21 front seats. It was a daily driver for a few years before the front seats ever came out and lo and behold they were tan vinyl dyed black ! You could not tell they were not originally black and never showed any signs of wearing as long as he owned it . That sold me on vinyl dye straight up. SEM is a good brand.

I ended up using Rust-oleum Painter's Choice "Flat Black" for my headliner and Duplicolor for my parcel shelf. There's a couple spots on my headliner that I'd like to smooth over, but overall, I'm more than happy with how it turned out. No masking, just rolled on with a sponge roller and a sponger brush for the hard to reach areas and a small paint brush for around the window seals. Anywho, here are the pictures. ;)

So much easier than masking everything off and having the leftover spray can smell. :)

That looks really good! Sorry for the noob question, but you didn't take the parcel shelf or the headliner out before doing this? If so, I'm doing this mod over the weekend.

Doesn't this make the car feel much smaller inside?

I took the parcel shelf (along with seats) out because I was dying that as well. But it needs to come out to get enough of the headliner. Or else it'll just be patchy and messy. And no, the headliner is a pain in the ass to take out and with roll on, it was a breeze.

I was skeptical at first, but I tested a little dab where the parcel shelf covers it and it came out pretty nice. So I went ahead with it. After a few weeks, it's held up great and my car hardly smelled and aired out in a day.

                              Thanks for the comments guys!
