yah i actually bought one of the BMP dash covers cuz i was too lazy about taking out the dashboard. I am actually happy with it- i didn't even use the silicone bonding shit they gave u cuz it is shit. I dont get any crackling of the dashboard in the cold, nor do i have any prolbmes of it bending out of shape int he sun. I am actually satisfied with the dash cover, because all in all, it is a dash cover. you're not gonna get a perfect oem fitment for those in the first place. Better than the cloth ones at least.

The one sitting on top of my dashboard actually looks like it is the actual dashboard (to an extent) so i'm happy with it

Do you have any pics of this installed? I'm very interested in seeing how it looks.

I'm looking seriously at the one in the BMP catalog because for one, my dash is flawless except for the single crack over the glovebox. It's a decent size crack, one that really bothers me. And it happened 3 weeks after I got the car.

On top of that, I really, REALLY do not want to pull out and swap in a new dash, I just don't want to do it.

right.. so my perfectly uncracked dash is going to just crack tomorrow? a well taken care of dash will not crack. the dash in my nearly 40 year old Dart wasn't cracked..

it's not that hard josh, and the dash cover is just a cheap half assed solution. you could probably find a nice used dash for less than the cover anyway.

i'll post a few pics soon

now that this is an update, the dashboard over a period of time bends out of shape. It has only bent around the part where the vin # lies, hardly noticeable.

              Guys....guys....

I just finished gutting my entire interior. Headliner, glass all around, carpet, panels, seats, and yes, even the dash.

My GIRLFRIEND helped me. It took us a few hours at most. She's never worked on a car before. I've never pulled a dash on an e30 before.

^ is right. The cover is only masking the problem. If you have a crap carpet, do you just throw another carpet down and hope no one notices the smell? No. You take the old one out and you put a new one in. OEM dashes look better, and they can be found for about the same price as the cover. I bought mine, crack free in great shape for $35. Granted that's on the low side, but it was better than a cover. All in all, take 3 hours, do it right, and put a new dash in. You won't regret it.

                How did it happen?

also, why hasn't anyone made a solution that stays in your dash and continuously deflects harmful sun rays. Only having to be apply once a year, and not every other week or so.

Well no maybe not tomarrow but many have been known to crack over night. How do you know how well the PO took care of the dash?

                  Sold it.

I know because he was pretty anal about the car, also I've had it for over 3 years so I don't think it's going to suddenly crack tomorrow. it's also been treated all its life...

I am just saying for the sake of argument, and being a shit distuber, if I got one from the junk yard, didnt know how well it was maintained there is a chance that it could crack quite soon after I swapped it if it was poorly taken care of.

                          Sold it.

Josh, i had the SAME EXACT THING happen to me, same crack and all. Only it took mine a few months.

To everyone who thinks it's daunting to take out the dash... I thought so too, but i had to, to remove my steering colum. It's not that hard at all, it only took me about 1 hour. Granted my center console was already out, but that's like 15 mins, and another 5 for the steering wheel. If you've taken apart any part of the E30 interior it's not hard AT ALL.
