Bringing the black back to an M-Tech II wheel part

As I have noticed on nearly every single M-Tech II wheel I've ever seen, the center horn section is always a pretty decent amount lighter in color, almost a different color, than the rest of the wheel, which is obviously attributed to the wheel being leather and the center section being vinyl.

I'm planning on dying the center section a deep black, to match the rest of the wheel. Is there a certain product any of you guys would reccomend? I was planning to just use an automotive vinyl dye.

May try cleaning it with some very diluted purple power. If that doesn't work...like you said, I guess dye it.

Ya, clean it first. Then I would try Forever Black, or Mother's Back-to-Black. Both of those are good treatments for restoring black trim/vinyl etc., not dyes. If they don't work to your satisfaction, then maybe try dyeing it. I use the latter on mine, and it does a good job.of making it dark again. Of course repeat applications are necessary on occasion.

Purple Power / Simple Green...same thing. Just a really strong cleaner/degreaser. You can get it like anywhere, Wal-Mart/K-Mart, etc, etc.

Can be the jack of all trades, can also be your worst enemy if not used carefully. Should be harrmless on black vinyl though, just be careful with it.

the lighter color is UV degradation, not dirt.

            Dye it with Vinyl dye.

Yup. I used dye on mine, very happy with it.

Better off dying anyways. If you clean and then put a greasy product on it it will constantly wear off and have to be reapplied anyways, and not feel very good on your hands.

Yes, you get better lubrication on your "shift lever".

And you get much better steering feel with your hands placed on the center hub rather than the outer part of the wheel
