The only functional benefit I see of having the non-OBC panel would be the ability to install a fold-out screen headunit, a lot of them hit the cruise stalk when opening.

the pioneer Flip out screen (same as Konsice) I had always hit the wiper lever when opening. it never touch the cruize control lever.

If you guys are worried about flip out screens hitting controls but still want to retain the OBC or a clock then maybe you could fit a RHD console? It would place the clock closer to the driver and the stereo further away?

Nothing was ever "happening" really, Jordan and myself are planning to buy new ones from the dealer. The odds of finding HVAC panels without cracks or gouges is nearly nil.
