ASU East, unfortunately. Its quite possibly the most boring campus I could have imagined. Except all the beer. I call San Diego home though.

ASU East, West, or Arizona in general suck, you know you want to come home, but i heard somewhere weve gotten more rain than Seattle since January, maybe bs, but it could be possible, 900 buildings at school got flooded, fixed up a month a many bills later, then flooded again, man i love la jolla.

My car with 35% tint all around (except front windshield). At night, it looks faily dark, but in some lighting you can't tell too much.

Kristin, do not do it yourself, get someone who is experienced to do it for you. Unless you have the windows taken off the car, it is extremely hard to tint your own windows. If you pay a reputable shop, they usually give out lifetime warranty against purpling, bubbling etc as well, so it is worth it to have a pro do it.

If you drive at night a lot, it's not really a good idea to have really dark tint. If you live in the middle of the city, it won't matter AS much, but driving around at night, backing up etc in the middle of the darkness can get really annoying.

When I got my tint done, it was partially so keep my interior cool. I asked the guy and he told me that though darker tint means greater block against the sun, it is not by much. UV Ray is also blocked like 90+% regardless of the color you choose. (I think).

some of you guys are funny.. tint turns purple because of UV damage, not from washing with ammonia. if you wash tint with ammonia, it becomes very soft and will start to fall apart. you can use alcohol based cleaners instead though.

get something that has UV resistance (probably made by 3M) and it shouldn't turn purple for a long time.

I've gotten my windows tinted on three different cars. Every time I get them done, they specificly say not to wash your windows with anything containing ammonia because that is what causes the tint to turn purple.

I have limo tint, and my reverse lights don't work. driving at nite is, well, a bit sketchy.

i JUST got my windows tinted yesterday. i got the tint that looks gray, and the type to get is the one that looks mirrored when its off the car, on the side that touches the window. that one reflects the light/heat out of the car. i got my back 3 windows done in 20%, and the front 2 done in 35%, and it looks really good on my lachs paint. i will try to take some pics if it ever stops raining here in CALI.

ps: the shittiest part about having yer windows tinted, is that u cant roll them down for 3 days after its installed (if u get the front ones done). also, on the back window, the light refracts offa the defrost lines when u have tint, making the rear window almost useless at nite b/c all the headlights. (this is something i have noticed on every single car ive ridden in that had tints done, unless its a hatchback b/c the angle is different).

In Puerto Rico we do Know about heat... having tints here is something very important, specially with leather seats... I did the tints myself, and I didn't had any problems at all

I have 20% all around, It's been over a year since I had this tints and I still haven't been forced to take them out by cops

Why do we have to be funny? I wasnt spredding misinformation. I would like to know what windown tint looks like when it starts to "fall apart". Ive never seen anything like that before.

spray some windex on it and wipe it with a paper towel.. you'll see what I mean. I know this because my mom used to have a car with tinted windows, and she didn't know you couldn't use windex. she pretty much destroyed the tint on the passenger side before she realized what was happening.

Right, and we're the funny ones. So your mom sprayed her tint with windex and it just melted right off of the window.
I have had tint in the past that was cleaned with Windex (or similar ammonia based cleaner) and it didn't harm the tint other than discoloration that occured over a period of time.

The statement that I made came directly from a local shop owner who has been tinting cars professionally for 20+ years. How long have you been a pro?

if it doesn't soften it, then why do you use ammonia to remove old tint?

I'm not arguing that your guy isn't a pro, but UV rays do damage the tint overtime. it becomes brittle, for one. similar to most films (ie lamin-x, which turns yellow from UV rays).
