And with the above fixes (spacers, removing white pin, disconnecting the airbag computer) the hub adapters will work otherwise? I know signals and wipers will be close. Thanks, trying to do all the searching I can myself but a lot I threads end without answers.
I didnt remove the white pin, not sure why you need too. All I did was put that think spacer and two washers, swapped out my turn and wiper stalks (you dont need too) and plugged the horn back in. Everything works fine. Mine is a 1990 but I think the 90 and 91 are the same.

Okay. Most of the hub kits specifically say does not work for 1989 318is or 1991 325i. Was wondering why they all single out those models? Thanks for the reply

Anyone with a 1991 325i know why all the hubs for aftermarket wheels say not for these specific models?

Which overhead check panel did you swap yours to? Looking at realoem, I see these 3 options for my 92 318 convertible (manual)

          - 62141375750 USA. Pre-1990. This looks different than mine with all of these buttons. Mine appears to be called "tell-tale" and this one "check unit." Wonder if this is a 318 vs 325

          - 63311376897 (from my 92 318 convertible). Says USA- Airbag on it, and realoem agrees: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...10#63311376897

          European options:

          - 63311376895 (Euro tell-tale #7) https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=62_0109.
Actually, a Google image search this looks like a European airbag one:

          - 62141368952 (check unit) which actually looks useful because it has a number of options on it

Figured it out... The 318/325 used different parts:
