        lol... funny, but very true!

When this happens, you learn very quickly how to remove/replace that knob with minimal effort.

I finally figured out why mine wouldn't work at the top of the shift boot there was a plastic spacer that keeps the shift boot up. I tried everything to get then knob on. I lifted up the shift boot and removed this piece and now magically the zhp shift knob snaps into place.

I know this is an old thread but incase anybody else runs into this problem they might want to try that

I'll be damned...I think I have the same problem. I actually have a Rogue Engineering Short Shifter and bought a new ZHP knob. The damn thing got the lower tabs broken within a year, and it would come off. Neither BMW or the Authorized Shop want to take responsibility for it. I will see about lowering the boot and re-fitting the damn thing even though the lower tabs are broken. Ultimately I will try the chewing gum and ask for some help from other R3v fellows that have experience regarding sitting on shifters to get the job done!!!

Wrap your shift lever with electrical tape. It will help with the interference fit.

Won't fit, it's from a much newer and lesser car, and your e30 is protesting its installation.
