I'm thinking about an M-Tech wheel. I have the cash and everything but after being hospitalized for five nights due to a car accident in May, I'm real nervous about giving up my airbag. What do you guys think?
Would you give up your airbag for an M-Tech wheel?

If it makes any difference, I had an accident when the airbag should have gone off and it didn't. I was fine. The older E30 airbags usually cause more damage than good, and look at it this way, do you feel any safer in your 90 325i than your friend does in his '89 325i? I doubt it.'88 M3.2 S54 Lachssilber/Black

Airbags are designed as supplemental restraint system. They were required by the govt as a way to help protect people who wouldnt protect themselves by wearing their seatbelt. Some manufacturers used the automatic seatbelt but it was far too annoying so most went to the airbag.
Sooooo, since I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt I havent cared about losing my airbag when I sold my truck.Im now E30less.

E30 Wagen
i like my m-tech 1 wheel.
i'd keep the airbag though. i think it makes the car look more modern, thus newer. plus, with a new two-tone leather or perforated leather wrap, your wheel would probably feel pretty nice to hold. just my opinion. :/Comment

The M-Tech I wheel is the same size as all of the other stock e30 wheels. The M-Tech II wheel is smaller in diameter.
I wouldn't trust a first gen airbag; I've read horror-stories of chemical burns from them.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.Comment

An airbag could possibly kill me, or knock me out I'd rather not have one.
