For you guys that swapped out you airbags for an aftermarket wheel, how difficult was it to shut up the warning light?

Man, I flipped my first car. That seatbelt kept me in my seat, otherwise I'd be outside my windshield. You guys should reconsider not having a seatbelt on.

I agree, I should wear my seatbelt, and your advice is noted.

As for the warning light, I somehow got lucky and as I was trying to pull it from the check panel, the glass crushed. I then took the two little wires in it, and connected them to complete the circuit and it hasn't been on since.

And I think part of the reason they were so dangerous was their lack of "speed sensitivity". I could be wrong though.

So whats this about the air-bag being so strong? Thats kind of scary. I have an air-bagged car.

my buddys airbag on his early 90's lexus went off after he hit a tree head on. the sequence went like this:

              1. lose control, hit tree.
              2. slam face into steering wheel.
              3. bounce back against the head rest, and head leans forward.
              4. air bag deploys and knocks him out cold.
              5. wake up with burns on neck and face from chemicals.
              6. me laughing my ass off.

The bigger one is from an E34 I think, it should have E30 stamped under the roundel if its the smaller one. I think its 370mm, not 365.

So if one was to remove an airbag steering wheel how would they do that without setting it off?

                          Disconnect the battery first.

                              no qualms having removed mine.

made me nervous – that kinetic energy just sitting there..

                              waiting.
