sport wheel in an airbag car troubles

I bought a three spoke sport wheel ( not an mtech ) for my 92 vert that had an air bag wheel. when i installed the sport wheel i tried turning it and it snags on something. I can still turn it past whatever its hitting but its making a plastic popping noise... not sure if its hitting the plastic stud that is sticking out but I can't figure it out.

I tried marking a few things with a sharpie to see whats hitting on. but i can't figure out whats going on. is this a common problem?

You need to remove the white plastic pin that sticks out. It pulls right out.

Pull the plastic peg out with pliers.

The white pin is only used for airbag wheels and a non-airbag wheel will bind up with it in place. I think it is used to engage the airbag, but that's just a guess. Make sure you also have a spacer in place. Search around, it's been done millions of times.

thank you sir's, I'm a little disappointed that the peg was only for the clock spring and not magical creatures though.
