    e9x gong/chime in e30

    Wonder if its ever been done.. friend of mine has a e90 328i and for some weird reason I like the way the gong/chime sounds. It's the little things in cars that catch my attention.

    I'm sure it's doable, but the wiring could/will be a pita considering the plug won't be at all the same...Havn't found anyone that's tried it yet though!

      Pretty sure the "gong" isn't a separate unit like in the e30. It almost sounds like it plays through the speakers. I would have to go out to my car to confirm though.

        looks like you're right, actually. post 2007 e90s had it come through the speakers it seems. otherwise it sounds like it's coming from the dash...

          I too would love to retrofit the gong in my E30...currently I have no gong :(

            I find the stock one wayyyy too loud - so i have it disconnected :)
            But about the e90 ones, it seems to be a software thing... Up to and including 2007 was through the dash cluster i think, and then after that through the speakers. Shame - they do sound way better!
