will this cluster fit my car?

i did a e to i swap in my e30 and due too the difference in wiring harnesses the rpms and mpg don't work. if i were to stick in a euro clock cluster with the clock in replacement of the rpm gauge, would it fit or are the plugs on the back of it different. my car doesn't have cruse control if the clock gets power from that. thanks!

why don't you just hook up the two wires you need for a tachometer?

IMO those clock gages are super ghetto. those only came on the cheapest of the cheapest stripper model E30s..

well there not too common, in fact with out r3v i would have never known about them, and I'm a good enough stick driver that i don't need a tach unless i wanted something too look at I guess, plus i would be one of the only e30's in the states with a clock

The tach and MPG should still work regardless if the car is e or i. Most likely your coding plug is wrong or not installed. Or your SI board batteries are dead. Any E30 cluster can be made to work in any model e30.

I just replaced my si battery's, and I know the coding plugs the right one cause I checked the part number on the plug and it went with the engine I have in the car. Reason why it doesn't work is there's a difference in wiring harness's between the two cars. Refer to this thread: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65017
I did my research :) as for the clusters working in any e30 I'll take your work on that and buy this clock cluster and see the out come.

You left out the OP's awesome grammar, which gives his argument more credence.

I absolutely did not tell him he didn't know what he was doing, all I did was provide a link saying the reason it doesn't work. Not many people know the wiring harnesses are different and I've read other threads asking why there gauge doesn't work after the swap. The point of my thread was too see if the plugs are different which power the clock and I still haven't gotten that answer... No disrespect was intended
