If you are replacing the skins and not actually making them, it helps to have diagonal cutters to remove the old hog rings and a leather punch for the tab holes

I have redone many seats with a pair of needle nosed pliers, flat head screwdriver and baby vice grips. Use the thin flat head for lifting the spade tabs and pliers for pulling the cover over the spades. Vice grips and plier together to open and close hog rings.

You'll also need a ratchet set for various bolts.

Get the angled hog ring pliers. Easy when reaching in at odd angles.

Commercial upholstery, marine, outdoor textiles, and adhesives. High quality materials used in indoor and outdoor projects at an excellent value.

I love my osborne hog ring pliers, they are really nice. CS Osborne makes first rate tools that will last you a long time.

If you want no-name chinese whatever brand you can get them for cheap at harbor freight as well as on amazon.

You can still get proper-sized, copper OEM hog rings, PN 52101945543. I got a bag of 100 for $12 from thebmwpartstore.com
