    Motometer vs VDO

Haven't been able to find much clear information on this. My car is a '89 325i Sedan that
has a VDO cluster from the factory, I managed to get this Motometer cluster for close to
nothing and was thinking of modifying this cluster overtime without having to use my car
"clusterless" but I have read that putting a motometer cluster in a car that came with a
VDO from factory or viceversa does not work or has issues, can anyone shed light on this?

I didn't have any problems with mine, just make sure all the plugs (y/b/w for vdo; y/b/w/g iirc) are connected.

It will work, they are functionally identical, even the internals can be swapped between them.

The plugs are the same colors.

Remember, though, there are early and late clusters. The early clusters have the eco gauge and tach separate, the late models, it was all one unit. Parts interchange between late VDO/Moto and early VDO/Moto.
