    heated seat question

Just searched this forum and can't find an answer to my question, so I'm hoping someone has dealt with this.

I am replacing the bottom heating element on one of my 'vert sport seats. The current wiring has a 4-wire plug - two wires from the back element and two from the bottom element.

The new bottom element has the same 4-wire plug, with just two wires connected to it. I'm guessing that I need to somehow remove the back element pins and wires from the other plug and put them in the new plug. Is that correct? I unsuccessfully tried to push them out of the old connector, but did not want to push/pull too hard before getting some advice.

    Any advice?

    Thanks, Cory

Hey Cory. I'm not sure about the wiring configuration but there is a pin tool (or set) made for what you are doing. I don't have one, but will gladly borrow yours if you get a set :)

Why not just take the plug from the old seat and splice it to the new one?

        Hi Jeff!

That's not too far beyond the realm of possibility. Between older European cars and racing, I'm getting good at buying tools that I only use once!

Is the tool you are referring to a BMW specific tool or a generic automotive/electrical tool?

        Thanks, Cory

Thanks! That would be a good last resort, but I like to avoid hacking up wiring whenever possible.

It's a generic automotive tool but that's not to say there aren't different sets for different styles of connectors.
