            Freaking old thread, If you don't want to weld a nut just make a new strap. Cut a piece from a car in the junkyard and take it to an upholstery shop. It cost me 10 bucks to have them sew the buckle to the right lenght.

                Wow, old thread! I sold this car about 3 years ago and have an e24 now.

                In the end I had longer belts made when I had the seat reupholstered. Used the lap belt that was removed for the material for the new belts.
