I like my carpet like I like my women...no wrinkles! Hanging the new carpet up to dry. Ok jk it's already dry but I was hoping this would release any wrinkles from how it was shipped and make install a bit smoother (pun intended)

The no-foam part is why I said to dye the original. Generally, replacement carpet like this is installed over the original carpet, not by itself. If you install just the new carpet, it isn't going to fit correctly and you will lose your dead pedal.

You would be surprised how clean you could get that original carpet. Take it to a car wash and pressure wash it (no joke). It will come out nice and clean. Then just paint from there.

Dude it's not just dirty. The carpet is moldy and smells so bad. You can't really wash moldy nastiness out of thick foam by soaking it with more water. Know what I'm saying? Like it smells so bad from being damp for a very long time. Maybe I'll just cut out the dead pedal part and use that under the new carpet.

Dynamat or the like is not actually sound proofing but rather a vibration damper designed to reduce harmonic vibrations and not to keep road noise out. It works best on large un reinforced panels such as door skins, roofs etc. You also don't need to cover every inch.

I've learned that bit recently. Thanks for sharing jeffnhiscars. According to some posters you can cover as little as 25% of the area and it will be effective at deadening sound. Which is what it's meant for. Not insulation.

Next step. Seal areas that have been compromised.

Putting down a layer of temperature/sound insulation. No it isn't dynamat or some other kind of sound deadener. If you wanna know what it is and you promise not to judge me, PM me and I'll tell ya what I used. Bottom line is its self adhesive, super easy to install, and gives an R value of 3.0 once installed. Here's the first bit on passenger side. No special tools to install and this area took 5 minutes! It's $18 per 15 ft roll. Just over $1/ft

Did you put that over the wiring?

Yes. Put it over wiring. It's easy to un-peel so won't present any issues for later if wiring changes are needed.

I'll add that I am NOT using "peel and seal" for roofing. This is an insulation product used to increase R value and reduce vibrations in ducting

The entire cabin is now insulated.

Laying down a layer of memory foam padding. What's style if you don't have comfort?
