how to identify if seats are vinyl or leather?

Hi all,


Anyone know how to identify if my 89 325i cabrio has leather or vinyl seats?
I have purchased the car with the front seats reupholstered into vinyl but not sure what material is the back seat.
There are creases everywhere, so I assume it is leather?

It should be (and sounds like) leather but to confirm for sure you should check the back side of the skin. Being a cabrio your seat top is probably split (another sign its probably leather) or remove the seat bottom. Vinyl will have a fabric backing and leather will look like..well...leather :-)

Cut a small piece off and go to an upholstery store and ask if you can't identify it yourself. Remove the seat back or cut it from underneath the seat.
