Lots of guys are doing it in Europe (the E46 armrest/console).

As Luis mentioned Qimis did it in the Euro-mobile, and he said it was a PAIN (his face while he explained it was priceless). And this is coming from a guy who custom built his entire Alcantara trunk enclosure.

I dont think an arm rest in an e30 would be comfortable, the gear shifter or sterring wheel works fine for me.

          SCORE!!!!

$33 dollars on eBay!!! Now let the hours of midnight work begin...

Any comments on mounting this to the floor, should I drill or any suggestions... In my VW days I drilled for a left foot rest and after a couple of years I had a rust around the whole!! Maybe glue or something.

Since you are doing this in a cabrio, Its got to be damn near perfect. Post pics of you progress, looks like a good mod. I especially like the hazard relocation on the yellow pic

                      I've

I;ve looked into doing this prior, using a e46 part, its not that hard, but I didnt feel like I needed the armrest. I might end up trying to do it again.

I would suggest for mounting, that you make a custom bracket from sheet metal and mounted on the bottom where the armrest comes up. If you take it apart you'll see what I mean. And riveted on or glue it on. The bolt on to the original mounting position.

On top of that, you want to reinforce onto the front shift console. I havent thought too much about that part yet, but thats when I decided not to do it. :P

btw, if you do that, you wont be able to have any after market seats, such as corbeau or sparco ones that are like srd or cr1s cause it'll be too wide and you wont be able to pull the seat up front enough.

I actually took the center console from an older last-gen Ford Probe, and it fit with no mods. It doesn't look totally stock because there is a hole underneath, but you really can't see it when you are in the car. Here's a pic:

BAHAHAHAHA< that probe armrest looks horrible. there is nothing shaped like that in our boxy e30's. looks out of place and tacky.

the e46 unit however, looks pretty damn trick.
