    Dashboard refinishing

Anyone ever try doing anything such as painting there dash? I think it would look prety nice to remove the texture and paint it a semi gloss black.

there is a reason why dash tops arent glossy and are usually dark colors... try driving a car with a glossy or light painted dashboard on a sunny day all you can see in the windsheld is the top of the dash... my friends neighbor had an integra that had a glossy orange dashboard he took me for a ride in it once to show off his turbo... but that dash had to be the worst idea ever... you couldnt see anything...

Yeah, I was thinking of somthing more flat than glossy. Just removing the texture that the dash has, maybe some sort of filler and sanding then painting it.

Use fiberglass. Good luck on it.

this sounds like a really, really stupid idea.. why not just pick up a used dash if yours is messed up?

I think its far from a stupid idea, I love cars that have non-reflective dashes, alcantara, full leather (modern porsches) etc, they really are nice, not just looking, but functionally as well.

no, I just can't imagine that it would look good. it's not like the stock dash is made of chrome or something. sanding it down and painting it? come on, it's not wood, it's foam and plastic! what's next, rattlecanning your whole car? ;)

I don't think it's that bad of an idea, actually. I'd like to see how it looks, Sand off the texture, redo it a flat black or satin black. It could look pretty damn good.

then again, you'd have that same vinyl texture elsewhere in your car that you'd have to sand off, otherwise it would look very out of place i'd think.
