    Differences in the rear seats

Ive noticed there are differences in the rear seats of our e30. Some of those seatbelt holders are in the center while some are to the left. What distinguishes this? US spec/ Euro Spec or 2dr / 4dr differences? Help would be much appreciated cause I really need to know why.

or is this version only on the M3?

the second version is from the M3. cabbies have a similar design. FYI 2 door rear seats fit just fine in a 4 door..

The difference that pissed me off the most was how they rear lower seat part mounts on early vs. newer cars. On the early cars the lower seat has two "tabs" that mount with a help of two bolts facing the front seats. The newer back seat does not mount in the same way, it's got a upside down U shape welded to the body of the car on both sides that the seat part snaps onto.

I picked up a leather back seat from an 90ish car and I don't have the metal tabs to secure the lower part of the seat

There are a lot of different e30 rear seats.
-m3, with square center bolster, no center seat

-cab, with rounded center bolster, no center seat

-early cars, w/ the center belt on the other side as well as rounded edges at the sides and horse hair for padding, also slightly taller, these seats do not work well with late modle cars.

-late cars, w/ foam padding, squarer sides, updated "hook" style monts on the back

and then you have seats with armrests, and ski doors, and rear head rests

Rear seats in e30s are not completly interchangeable.

yeah, my car had one.. those seat backs are heavy as fuck too, mine was about 50lbs. there's lots of bracing in those to support the pass through.

I actually need to know about the positioning of the seatbelt harness because I am thinking of buying iggee seat covers but not sure about the gap made available for the seatbelt.

that isn't a cabby rear seat, it's from an M3. the cabby one is indeed too narrow.
