    interior restoration

Meant to post this a while ago but never got around to it. Things started with a leaky heater core and cooland inside the car. Since the carpet was crappy fitting aftermarket stuff I thought I would change that out while I was in there. Then I found a nice rust hole on the pass side above the exhaust shield:

So after some grinder time and epoxy that was fixed. Then I decided to lay down some peel and seal just to take the edge off the highway noise. as well as add heated seat wiring and ran extra RCA cables for future ease of installment of seats and amp.

Found some fairly clean 4-door iX specific carpet(not easy to find) from Reggies motor works and just power washed it with purple power and as you can see it came out pretty nice.

I then added factory tweeter domes and a 7413 HU and it's looking and sounding pretty nice. Oh yea I also replaced a cracked HVAC panel and bulbs, what a PITA! I also think it is a shade quieter on the highway cause of the peel n seal. Now if I could just get rid of that B&B tri- flow exhaust. The only hick ups I had in this semi restoration were 2 bad refurbished HU's , and i gouged my e brake console trying to cut the heater switch holes and need a new one. As well as a e30 M3 ebrake boot.

Very nice, looks very clean, let me ask you did you get any bad odors from the "new" carpet after power washing it?

yep, another bad refurb. They did'nt have any others so they they had to refund me. So I found another one new for like $20 more and it's new. What a pain. I still might need your help to help me balance out my sound. The tweets do seem a little bright, and i have the trebble almost all the way down, and bass way down.

Time to swap your crossovers for the other set you got, since it's got tweeter level selection.

Did the Peel n' seal make a noticeable difference?

Did your carpet come with a foam liner?

sorry it took so long, but yea it did come with foam liner, but for some reason iXes have the foam and carpet seperate, as in not attached to each other.

Yeh this is the problem that I have! Can that foam liner be purchased separately?

I dont think so, I did find a carpet set through BMW who said it was like the only one in the country right now and it was like $500.

                            Hmm...that sucks

I looked around though and they have this stuff called "Automotive Jute Carpet Padding"...looks like this may be my alternative when I re-install my carpet.

Be careful, I have to recomend nothing other than factory. I went the after market route once and I regretted it, looked and fit horrible. This is for an iX right? iXes are molded differently. Let me know.
