    318 is Check panel secret...

Well today I was working on my car with a friend. I asked him to take apart the interior while I removed stuff under the hood. Long story short he removed the check panel cover and he found something I didn't existed.
There is a small circuit board behind stamp HELLA. So my question is what is it for?

I can get pictures if needed.

Yes you just have to short the third and sixth pin and you're off!!!

Seriously I have no idea what it's for though. It's a pretty smart little box though.

        Take a pic.
Sounds like it's the circuit board for the 318 check panel. You do know that it is not a cover right? The SRS and seat belt lights are in the flat black panel and are supposed to light up. Maybe yours isn't working so you thought it was just a flat plastic cover?

The interesting thing is that there are other lights back there. There is one that says "overheat," "airbag," "SRS," and the seatbelt light. Not quite sure how to get them to work though. Shine a light through the back of the panel and you will see what I'm talking about.

There should be a wiring harness that plugs into the back of the check panel.
The Seatbelt and SRS lights should come on when you start up and shut off in about 8 seconds.

Not sure you want to test the overheat light. Disconnect a coolant hose and go for a drive on the highway... see if the light comes on eventually. ;)

Yeah, I know. I actally ditched the panel for a custom dome light (off of a silverado, it actually looks pretty good). I was just tying to figure out why they were there considering that the panel doesn't come with bulbs for those positions.

Here is picture of what I'm talking about. My question is do I need to keep this thing or is it only used by the airbag( I'll be swaping the aribag wheel for a MtII) I know nothing about electronic....

"Over heat" is for the Catalyst (required someplace but I can't remember where).

SRS / Airbag was waffleswaffleswaffles US or UK.
