What Red Needle Paint Have You Used?

    Hey R3V-

I've been looking through countless old threads regarding red needle paint, with zero specifics or photos on what folks have used to closely match the M3 needles. For example, "just use Testors" doesn't really help, as there are a ton of options that all vary significantly.

I was considering a flat red to match the flat black trim rings I'll be using. The E30M3 needles aren't totally flat, more like a matte.

    My only decent contenders are:

    Testors 1150TT - Flat Red (https://www.hobbylinc.com/testors-fl...mel-paint-1150)
    Testors 1197TT - Flat Cherry (https://www.hobbylinc.com/testors-ch...l-paint-1197tt)
    HiPo HP-FLRED-01 (https://www.ebay.com/i/200234894775?...SABEgJeOPD_BwE)
    NP-RED-1415 from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Needle-Paint-.../dp/B0031W4X5M)

Have you used any of the above with photos? Yes, I am aware that you can sharpie the needles, and I have no interest in that.

    Cheers-

I used nail polish, I tested a couple of colors on a junk cluster and ended up picking the one I thought looked best. nail polish is self leveling so it's pretty easy to get a smooth finish

I didn't consider nail polish because most are glossy. How does yours look?

I dont remember the exact testors paint code, but I used a few drops of their fluorescent orange to brighten up the red, i wanted a little more vivid red for visibility, not quite as dark as the m3 ones tho. Two pics with different lighting

I did some testin', hope this helps someone in the future. I didn't order the amazon paint.

          Testors Flat Red #1150
          Testors Gloss Red #1103
          Testors Flat Cherry #1197
HiPo HP-FLRED-01 (yes, the card is incorrectly labeled "amazon paint"

The M3 appears to be brighter than I thought closer to the flat cherry #1197, but I really prefer the darker #1150 for what I had in my mind. The lighting makes all of this very difficult to photograph, but I tried.

M3 cluster is brighter than I remembered:
