    Flash/blink for 3rd brakelight?

Simple question; has anyone retrofitted a modification to an E30 that makes the 3rd light go blink-blink-blinkblinkblink when you're first applying brakes to grab the attention of the car behind you and then solid until you release with a delay until it blinks again next brake application? It's one of the few modern car features I like as I find it's quite good at dispelling highway hypnosis when I see it on other vehicles and I really would rather not get my E30 rear-ended by someone not paying full attention, so everything helps. Any tips on how I'd go about doing this?

looks like you just need to get some of these

Brake Light Flasher Strobe Brake Light Strobe Tail Light Strobe Brake Flasher LED Flash Module Flash Strobe Controller for Motorcycles Cars Trucks Brake Light Tail Stop Light 12-30 V (4 Pieces) : Amazon.com.au: Automotive

that's an ausi link, but im sure they can be had in usa.

pretty neat thing actually. i dunno why that link has 4 of them, 1 would suffice id say.

pretty sure you have to convert to led first. they don't work with the voltage used for bulbs.

ah good point. when i was reading the initial post i was thinking about my 3rd brake light on my modern car that is of course led. i guess you could put a mosfet on the output to drive the bulb. but if you can just put LEDs in that would be the easiest thing.

Ahh, gotcha, I didn't necessarily want to switch to LEDs for tails/brakes because of how finicky they can sometimes be but I'll consider it. PO already did rear plate lights and dome lights. Is there a factory delay module out there that could be wired up? I have had poor experiences with amazonium electronics.

most led conversions only reduce the voltage right at the emitter, or very close to it. for those strobe modules to work, the entire system needs to be at the lower led voltage from fuse box back.
