Whelp, I just got back from supply shopping. If I can find the time today I'll get working on it.

Edit: They're smoked and look nice IMO. I'll clearcoat and possibly install tomorrow.

I believe a method that works is this...

Take your tails to a PROFESSIONAL automotive painter... tell him to get the best clear he can get and mix some black into it. Then sand the tailights and then just clear them with the tinted clear... clear 2-3 coats or until desired tint has been reached. And then viola.

Ive heard of this being done. Never done it myself, but the idea seems good.

I just installed the smoked tails on my car. And I must say, they look quite nice. I took some pics but my server is down.

            both stock:

            one smoked:

            lights on, one smoked:

            both smoked:

            lights on:

They're darker than the MHW's but as you can see light shines through them just fine. Not bad for $15

Light output looks dangerously reduced to me.

bleh, its probably the camera angle (my eta was in the way). I was thinking that I might need to swap brighter bulbs in, but as the last pic shows, they're not dim at all.

BTW, I just got home from school/work so no day shots today. They do look awesome though.

Actually, you're right. Good point. When layering, there was a point when they looked just like MHW's. However they just weren't dark enough for me (schwarz car), so I put a few more layers on. The VHT niteshades worked great. The previous owner of my eta blacked the sidemarkers with normal black paint and the look way worse. Anyhoo, I'll see if i can get some more pics up tomorrow.

are those 18's on that thing or does the dish in the wheel make them look bigger?
