So, how difficult is it take apart the headlight assembly?

the high beams on my depos (the first version that were direct copies of hellas) weren't too bad, heat them up in water, etc. but the low beams were practically epoxied to the housings. the depo glass was pretty burly though, it took about 5-6 wacks with a phillips screwdriver and a 16oz dead blow to crack them...Comment

So I'm a litle confused. You use these template to make black pieces that fit over the blocking plate, making them "smoked"? Do you just print them out of normal paper or what? I would assume those would burn... :?Comment

no, you should make them out of metal or tough plastic. thin sheets of aluminum would work, just hit it up with some high temp flat black paint.Originally posted by NitroRustlerDriverSo I'm a litle confused. Ya, that is waht I figured. Actually, at the time of posting my first post, I hadn't looked at the template, but then I did and it all made sense. Not having an e30 sure didn't help though. lol :?
As far as that goes, paper doesn't burn until it reaches 451º, and I have no idea how hot the lights get, so...Originally posted by bimmerphileNah dude, paper isn't flammable.Comment

I dont think kris really knows what a good way to save the lenses is... When I was working on my Bi-xenon housing I wanted to use the stock lenses, but needed them out so I could get some good measurements. I call him up "a heat gun will do it, but it'll warp the housing a bit"... "just smash the lens out with a hammer"
hahaha- Good luck.
When it comes down to it though- Just order a mr lens kit from BMP and have nice shiny new lenses...
Or you could do what I did for my bi-xenons- get custom glass cut, but I think that wouldn't get the same optical illusion going as the stock lens.
