Ouch. I know you'll work it out. It's just a shame you are waiting again.
Happy Easter.

I had a very expensive fully custom M42 built (that took 7 months), and then some valve springs went south. Turns out that the builder's spring supplier seems to have gone off a cliff in terms of quality in the last 12 months, so the builder has had to scramble to drop that supplier and put in a new spring setup. There was damage to the camshaft, so that has been out getting a re-weld/grind. I am hoping to have the head back in a couple of weeks.

haha, vise grips are next on the wishlist! I did this one with the "manual visegrips"
I have two pairs of Ellipsoids to build one working set, and luckily one of the pairs had a set of projectors in very good condition. I will say you are probably more likely to find projectors in rough shape, and the cone is still not made for HIDs, but the conventional wisdom that "all OEM projectors are crap and decrease light output from the sealed bulbs" should be tried on a case by case basis.
I do applaud the efforts on the retrofits and can't wait for the final product. Just wanted to add some counterpoint.

So I am about 60% done machining one of the two adapter brackets. I spent ~3 hours on Sunday evening working on it. Although it does not affect functionality in ANY way, I did make one "oops" lol. Somehow I added things incorrectly in my head and set the radius of a semi-circular cut 0.100" too far out lol. No biggie though (thankfully)! I have some pictures at home that I'll post when I am back from my business trip to Austin. I am hoping to get the first one finished up this weekend so I can trial-fit it and see if any design changes need to be made.

I cannot recall how far I had to cut the housings, but I can check when I get home. Unfortunately, the FX-R projectors are large enough that there is no physical way to mate them to the E30 light housings without cutting them.
The Morimoto Mini projector assemblies are small enough that I believe they can be installed without cutting. In fact, someone here is working on a kit with TRS that just involves unscrewing the stock rear reflector dish and putting the projector on with a custom adapter plate.

ID like to know how far your cutting the bucket. This is a great idea but still on pnp lol.
