Has Anyone Purchased/ Installed these Xenon Headlights?

    http://www.amazon.com/1984-1991-Smil.../dp/B005FH3XJ8

Look great. They say plug and play but then offer no instructions for DIY...

Anyone have any experience with these and/ or have a better solution?

Check the retail classifides or group buys, theres a member who sells them for much less, and from the reviews they were actually quite good, and am going to buy a set myself.

Ive had good luck with depo, installed a set of depo projectors on my friends w210 and fit/quality was excellent.

Lol its amazing really. Im a vendor on for the e90 and e80 parts and I can spot a cheap, fake, ricer mod from a mile away for those cars. Comes to show how when you switch models like this, its so easy to be a N00b all over again

Well, the projectors themselves might be OK. The "ricer" giveaway was the 8000K bulb color. OEM bulbs are 4300K-4500K, and give a nice pure white output. 5000K is acceptable, but has a little blue in it. 6000K and up...people put those in solely because they look super blue / purple on the car. The light output is really lame though, in a large part because the human eye does not work as well with blue light (harder to focus on & track moving objects), as opposed to more greenish/yellow light.

You COULD always buy the light set, toss the ricer bulbs & put in some quality 4300K ones. www.theretrofitsource.com sells some, and they are of higher quality than the cheaper ones I have tried over the years.

These silly things are about $119 more expensive from what eBay sells them for.

depo is one the better aftermarket lighting companys, tyc isn't too bad either.

people like to talk alot of crap about them, but if you need stock replacement lights (not ricer lights) then their quality is hard to beat. plus they are WAY cheaper than oem parts.

Depo is OK aftermarket replacement for most regular cars including the e36.
But the headlights for e30's, e34's and the like are pure garbage.

lets see: old car, with not great headlight design (e30, e34), modern copy of bad design ends up with bad product. hmmm, i think i see the problem.

i love the way the headlights look on the e30's and e34's, but modern projectors are much much better designed, and are more efficient. i'm not saying buy ebay projectors, because they will be complete garbage.

take the time to do it right and retrofit a set of projectors from a newer vehicle (audi, acura, infinity, bmw, mercedes). they will work better than ellipsoids.

i have to say, i have bought a few sets of depo's stock replacement lights for family vehicles (lots of deer here, and female drivers...), and they are easily as good, if not better than the originals.

I think that Depo's, quality issues aside, will give better light output than used 20+ year old OEM ones. This is for the simple reason that the metallic coating on the reflector dishes of the old ones have 20+ years of oxidation & heat damage on them, and they absorb a significant amount of the light, whereas new ones still have mirror-like reflector dishes. I have seen the inside of many Euro ellipsoid lights, and the reflectors on all of the used ones are shot to hell.

This is more what I was talking about. I have no experience with other models of cars, but I have seen Depo front turn signals and headlights for an e30 and they were terrible.

But I'm also willing to bet I have a lot higher standards then most people. I'm downright picky. lol

I had depos for the E30 when they first came out. They light output was crap. actually, the earlier ones were better "quality" copies as far as build quality, and even had parts compatibility with the real lights. The light output was just poor.

there's nothing wrong with H1 euro projectors, either - that's what Depo copied, albiet badly.
