    Tail light backing plates

Okay, for those who may not know or notice...there are backing plates for early taillights that have a "window" behind the parking lights so when the lights are on, they also illuminate the trunk. I thought it was a great idea. IIRC, my 85 325e had these from the factory so I don't think it was a euro only thing. Any one know if it was an early model (84-85) thing or ?? I have known about these for a long time but never really thought about it until now. I remember a friend of mine ordered these for his M3 just to have the extra light and I don't remember my M3 having these plates which is why I think it may have came on early models.

This. I put them in my 87 along with an extra trunk light in the lid. No more dark trunk at night.

I have one of those. It also has the contacts for the fog, which none of the others do.
