    brighter lights

the lights on my car probably need to be aimed a little (when foggy they seem to point towards each other) but i would still like some better lights. What cheaper options are avalible?

    i found someone selling these

I sell headlights for BMW e30. They are new and unused. The package contains 2 glasses for the dimmed headlights and two glasses for the main beam. They are easy to install. Why invest in old headlights when you can get them new and unused. The picture illustrates the headlights. Top Quality from Hella. They are new and in the original package. They are originally black and not customized. They don’t have to be checked by the Technical Inspection Agency. List Price by Hella: 400 Euro.

    for $250

how much more light would they provide? what about HID's?

Ummm, those are smoked smileys. That is the first time I have seen someone selling just the lenses without the buckets.

Either way those will put out a more light than your lights. It should be a good improvement for you. Im assuming your car has sealed beams (89-90 for ellips). The downside is you need to find some US ellips buckets to mount those in. Just find someone with broken glass I guess.
    Im now E30less.

just do the 9005-9006 conversion. basically you put the highbeam bulbs in your low beams, with some minor modification, but a pair of dykes or dremel will work.

Helped me out quite a bit. Ryan can vouche for that.

As much as 250 sounds fairly cheap for those, if I recall correctly, it was like 40 bucks for shipping right?
And then after you buy buckets, adjusters, connectors (which are expensive for some reason) etc, it's not that cheap.

You could just avoid the hassle and buy them for 479, and you'll have brand new ligths, buckets with new non-rusted out adjusters.

is there a writeup somewhere on this?

that combined with some aiming might be the boost im looking for.

Its really simple. Go buy some lights for your highbeams, and take out your low beam lights. you will see what needs to be trimmed. It is also better if you run an extra o-ring to help the blub seat a bit better.

the good old H4 upgrade from Hella or the Cibie CSRs are also a good upgrade.

from what I have read/seen the best bang for the buck lighting system seem to be US Ellips and some 4300-5000k HIDs.
US ellips are fairly cheap, and are supposedly better candidate for HIDs, as their projector does not have that 'raise on the right' like with the euro projectors.

that would be a lot more expensive then just some high beams bulbs though. How much would the HID's cost?

more expensive yah, but the result is most likely very pleasing.
I've been thinking of getting HIDs for the longest time, but I have been putting it off as I've been buying other things.
You can buy HID kits from like 280.

For starters, does your car even have ellips though? If not you cant do the mod kyle was talking about.

As far as costs. You can pick up some US ellips for about $100 or Euro ellips for $150-$200. Then if you wanted to go HID in the low beams, that will run you about $275
