DEPO's sticking out too far? here's the free fix

The problem is the intermediate mount is too long. DEPO didn't press the plastic twistlock down on the shaft far enough.

    Stock DEPO intermediate mount.

Modified DEPO intermediate mount vs stock mounts.

I used deep 1/4" sockets just larger than the shaft and a hammer to adjust the plastic twistlock. Since the shaft is knurled, the twistlock does not screw on. It's simply pressed down to the desired position. Since the other mounts are adjustable, this piece determines how far your lamps sit away from the bucket.
I went from 37mm to approx 30mm which is pretty much what the stock BMW intermediate mounts ($7-9 each!) are. You don't have to be dead accurate, just get it within +/- 0.5mm

I ran into this when the euro grills wouldn't fit right. Part of the inner grill would hit the depo lights. I resovled the issue by changing to USDM grills.

124 brand new depo lights are far better than 250 dollar 25 year old pitted junk though.

With the price difference get a Morimotor HID Kit and your good to go.
