Is it possible to separate them?

You can separate the bulb carrier from the lens, you have to do this to replace bulbs; but you cannot separate the lens from the frame, it's bonded permanently on assembly.

Using a dremel will allow you to cut the openings exactly to the size you want. That's what I did when I converted my rears to LED.AWD > RWDComment
