    H.I.D. question

I am in the market for an H.I.D. kit for me IS. Here's my situation, i have a 90' 325is which as you all know came with the disgusting sealed beam lights. I was given a set of U.S. ellipsoids from my friend and installed those. Everything went smoothly with the wiring. I then proceeded to buy a set of DEPO smileys which i am very happy with but the only problem with the DEPOS was that the wiring was plug-n-play to the 9006 but the bulb in the actual headlight was an H1. So here's my question, if I buy a kit for a 9006 bulb type, will the bulb have to fit in the housing where the H1 sits? I.E. does the H.I.D. bulb lock into the headlight housing like the 9006 bulb or what? And if I do get the 9006 kit will i have to fabricate the H1 housing in order to ocomidate the H.I.D. bulb?

    thanks

Buy the h1 kit and rewire them. +2+, -2-...should be straight foward since you already have the kit that swaps from 9006 to h1.

Seems like you will have to re-wire the h1 buld's harness. Just cut off the wires off of the h1 bulb and put a 9006 connection on in it's place.

the problem isnt the connectors its the bulb size. i have 9006 connections right now they are just pluged into a harness that leeds to an H1 bulb housing

Yes, just get the H1 kit. and rewire for them. It's a simple install iirc.

my hella smileys are h1 and i have the prolumens 5k kit.you need 9006 plugs to go into the ballast on the prolumens and then you have the h1 bulbs. there shouldnt be any rewiring needed if you still have the 9006 plugs installed. go to bimmerforums under the GB section and pick up the prolumens kit from Habbie for $255 shipped. theres a bunch of us here in the portland area running them, they are sick!!

On all my HID kits (4) I got H1's and on the ballast, the 9006 connector plugged right into it in place of the wiring adapter provided. Less custom, literal plug and play except on the fixture.

I have a set of velocitygetter 6000k HIDs in my Euro Smilies, they are great. I love them. Two wire hookup and plug in a couple connectors and mount he ballasts.
