    Smiley x HID question

Hey, I have Euro smileys, which HID bulbs do I need to get?
elementary question I know... but hey, I do mechanical things, not pretty-boy things. lol

Also, I want the brightest most usable light. 5k?
best place to get them? I am looking for a QUALITY bulb, so, while I value cheap price, I don't sacrifice function to get it.

You need H1 base bulbs to adapt into the euro housings. I have the apexcone 55w kit from understeer.com with 4500k bulbs in my smilies; it looks like a factory BMW setup, and is quite bright. Here's some pics, but they actually look less blue and more white in person than in the first pic.

Here's an idea of the pattern and light flood for those who haven't seen.

h1s.5ks are the whitest, non cop attracting temperature around. there are multiple GB on bimmerforums for hid kits. look for deals through seller name "habbie". prolumens are the best of course. digital ballasts and lifetime warranty.

Fret, if you don't mind me asking - what was the final cost of everything needed?

            Thanks

:EDIT: I see on understeer.com it is ~$240 for Apexcone 55w H1/5000k kit with warranty, but did you need the relay harness or LBF module?

^ if you have elipsoids already you do not need a relay harness. any car ive worked with hasnt needed a LBF module, i believe thats for "later" cars.

that's about right; I paid less as I didn't get the slim ballast setup, but no big deal. There's some serious deals going on at the bf.c group buys section too, for what it's worth. I didn't need any relay harnesses or LBF modules; our lowbeams are already relayed.

Yeah you're gonna need the H1 kit. 5000k is a nice light output but I have heard that others like the 4300k or the 4500k. That's not a half bad price or deal for that matter.

As for the fogs, I am pretty sure Ryan M3 has the 3000k in his fogs and they look sexy as hell. You should definately get the fogs deal with the headlight kit.

                      Just my two cents.

5000k has the whitest appearance, but is slightly blue. 4300k is pure white. Arguably lower temperature(ie yellow) gives you better vision because it creates more contrast, but anything in the 3k-5k is gonna essentially give you the same amount of usable light, its more just the look you prefer.

Anyone know if the 88+ fogs only take h3 bulbs? I haven't taken mine out to be sure (although I am 99% sure they are h3s) but the guy over on bf.c seems to think our fogs took h3 or h1...

                          Can anyone clarify this?

                          Thanks

H1 and here's a light read for you.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
                              Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.
