    problem with my hella lights

so let me start by saying me and almost anything electrical don't mix.
i just installed some Hella headlights and every time i put on the high beams they blow out the 7.5 fuses. do i need to add a relay or can i just put some bigger fuses in. will bigger fuses melt my wires? if i need to add a relay how do i do that? is there a write up some where? I have some 10amp fuses in right now just so i don't blow out the fuses every time i bump the high beams. any help is greatly appreciated!

What "bulbs" are you using? Are you using an HID kit too?

I don't remember having to change anything to get them to work. Not sure what you're issue may be though.

You might be short circuiting somewhere?

You already have a relays - in the fuse box. Sounds like something is shorting.

I remember reading that Hella H1/H4 require 10A. Pretty sure that's what's in my fusebox.

As long as the bulbs are still DOT 55/60 on the H4 and 55 on the H1, I can't see why they'd need bigger fuses. Should be pulling the same amount of power.

I just checked mine, and I switched 1 and 2 (left/right high beams) to 10A. Lows are still 7.5A.

ok thanks guys! i put some 10a's in and they work fine. one more question though. adding the 10a's will not cause any other problems down the road?
i am running h4's. no idea how strong the bulbs are.

                            High's are H4's as well?

I had/have the H1/H4 Hella upgrade set - highs were H1. The H4's were on as daylight running as well, and they seem to get too hot and end up cracking the lens - so I am in the process of switching to Euro ellipsoids (just need bulbs to arrive). The H1's on the highs with a 10A fuse is fine - I know I didn't change because I blew fuses, so I must have switched because Hella recommended it. I drove across Canada with them, so I had them on for extended periods of time with zero problems.
