anybody do rally-style driving lights in front of the bumper?

    kinda like this:

i have a plastic-bumper '91, and those same Hella Rallye 1000 lights off the jetta (my second car). I figger i might as well use them. what i did to mount them to the jetta was just take some angle iron and bolt up into the bottom of the bumper and then bolt the light to the angle. anyone do this with an e30? :)

I was thinking of putting them close together in front of the license plate area; i dont think indiana has a front plate requirement...

    p.s. yes its a 16v ;)

i had planned on doing it for my eta. (making it a full-on winter car... roof rack, heated seats, way way too many lights) i was thinking of something like land rover lights b/c of their size. figuring out how to mount them though will be interesting. i really like that ix look though

That red and silver car is what I wanted to do! I have an extra set of sealed beams I could use. Just don't know how to hook it up without drilling holes.

forgive crappy/quick pshop johb.... but down in front of the bumper you dont interrupt airflow to the engine, although you run the risk of an idiot backing into you and destroying teh lights...

That'd be better, but you'd have to fab some kind of bracket or bar to hold the lights, like the white E30 pictured up there /\, you could mount the lights on the front of the bumper using the mounts on the lights, but you'd have to run the lights on their sides then and I would think the little bolt holding the light up would sag/fail in no time.

This thing bolts to same holes(or the new ones drilled) whre tha plate was bolted. Using long bolts though the rebar gives rigidy.
