I could swear the 900 and the 805 have the same specs. The differences are cosmetic. The 900 has chrome accents and a flip down face, the 805 has "smoked chrome" accents.

I had ordered the 900 first and returned it for the 805. The chrome was too much bling for me and the flip down face didn't buy a larger display - it is the same size as the 805, only in a different place.

Having lived with the 805, the 900's controls are probably easier to find by touch, especially the up down, left right control on the far left of the face.

Sorry, I was thinking R800 vs R805. I am not familiar with the R900.

KD-R805 has 4v pre-outs, steering wheel controls and 2-year warranty that the 800 doesn't have.

You may be correct the the 805 may be equivalent to the 900.

I don't seem to show the KD-R805 as a US model?

I am from Canada, maybe different markets? The local car audio specialty shop had it on clearance a month or two back, so perhaps its discontinued for 2010.

My KD-R800 has unsmoked chrome accents. Pics on page 1.

The KD-R805 was about $100 more than what I got my R800 for. If it was less than $50 difference I would've gone with the R805 just for the higher voltage pre-outs alone.

Really like the dual USB inputs, though it is misleading as the Bluetooth adapter takes up one of them. Still the Bluetooth adapter is so short it can sit in the front usb without drawing attention to itself, leaving the rear usb and its 3 ft cable free to host your thumb drive or ipod in the glovebox. The onboard amp is nothing to write home about, but it will do until the pre-outs are utilized.

They were all over ebay 3 months ago for $160. Now they are gone - selling off stock?

Looks like maybe JVC is introducing a replacement model, the 815:

They removed some of the "Smoked" chrome and made the left side buttons easier to find by touch. All improvements as the source button requires some fumbling as it is so small.
The different button and display illumination pictured makes a statement though...I guess there is an LSU fan on the staff.

If you like the look of the 600 above, but need the three sets of pre-amp outs, then you want to look at the kd-a805 or the kd-ahd59.

The 59 gives up bluetooth for a built in hd radio, and gives up the burr-brown dac for a 7 band equalizer.

isn't this the one on sale at Walmart right now? either $140 or $80, I wasn't paying attention.

most likely $80 since i googled it and i saw it being sold for around that much somewhere.
