i pulled 2 of these in mint condition out of the pick and pull yard for 5 bucks each, they retail at 50 bucks for the pair. I dont know if its the speakers or the head unit but they sound pretty shitty. A tad better the the old 30 dollar sony ones that the PO put in. The low range sucks cack and I hate it. I wanna upgrade but im not sure if its the original head unit or the speakers making for the bad sound.

Old French made Focal, fine. Weak, but fine, at least it sounds good. The new shit has got to be the weakest sound/dollar I have ever heard.

I keep thinking a pair of Kenwood "thin" 8" woofers in tiny little sealed fiberglass enclosures on each side (1 pair total, duh) would kick ass...but then, nah.

Dunno what the hell I would do if I had a 'vert, but Kim wants one, so it will happen sooner or later!

From what I have read, I know you will come up with something that will kick ass,... then all of us vert owners will have to copy off you. But without cutting, there is like no room back there!

If they where cheaper I would go and do it but $200 + for a pair and allot of extra work, I'll pass. I think you should get Kim a convertible as it will push you to do and install.

I'm tempted to make a sub box for my convertible, I'm an amateur carpenter but don't have a clue about building a sub box. I have a 10" Crunch Sub do you think a single sub would do?

the big issue isn't getting a box in the trunk, it is getting bass in the car.

DO it, I will order a set immediately. And I am sure quite a few others will as well. Maybe sme thing that will fir Elemental Designs 6.5" woofers would work as well.

Luke, I'm tempted to try this on the convertible I bought a few months back. Do you think some 8"s would be sealed enough back there to still produce good sound? I'm worried I'd do all the work on the fiberglass side panels and then be unhappy with the type of bass produced due to the subs' airspace not being sealed...

Either that or do some ports through the seat like I did in my wife's eta with your box. But I didn't really want to cut into the rear firewall. It would only be a couple of small 2.5" holes, but still.

HELL NO!

But about the 8's, I would build a full enclosure for each one. I would never even think about selling them here, we would be over $1200 for the pair easily.

On the other hand, I might consider doing a 6X9 conversion for the rears in the 'vert.
