    OIl Pressure Sender/Gauge

I've got a strange problem with my oil pressure gauge. On startup the needle is pegged to the far right past 150psi...when I accelerate the needle starts to level off around 70-90psi. The more throttle input the lower the reading.

I know 100% that this is wrong so I'm thinking that it has something to do with the ohm's..

    Here's the sender I purchased:

    R8919 Pressure Sender: 0-150 PSI - 1/8 NPT - 240-33 Ohms

The gauge I have no idea but its either a 240-33 ohms or 10-180 Ohms but it must the latter since the gauge isn't reading right...

My question is, do I need another sender/gauge all together, or can I just somehow use resistors to trick it into thinking that its getting a proper reading from the sender?

Any advice? Has this ever happened to anyone before?

what gauge/sender is it? the VDO one I have has 2 posts, one for the dummy light, and one for the actual pressure reading. If you hook the gauge up to the wrong post it will behave something like that.

Whoops I forgot to include that in the original post.

It's a VDO Vision 350-108, no dummy light, just a +/- for light and +/- for power plus the wire coming from the sender itself.

The gauge is rated for 10-180 Ohms.

Posting that question just made me realize that I ordered the wrong sender...

R89810 should have been the one...

Doh!!! Is there any way to get them to talk to each other? Or would it be easier to just order the right one?

no, it looks like the sender you have has a resistance curve with the wrong slope. you'll have to order the other one.

Thanks man. Going to order the right one then!
