    Amp in the cabrio

Here is the problem. I have a 325ic, I want to still have access to my spare tire and at the same time I am trying to mount a amp and crossovers. Is there enough room under the back seat to mount 2 crossovers and an amplifier? If I knew how to paste a picture here I could show you guys the problem, but i can't figure that out. Thanks. If any cabrio owners have any pics of setups, share em here.

The FAQ section has instructions on how to post pictures.

Well here is the problem. My component speakers will be installed very soon, and the rear speakers replaced, both sets will be hooked up to the amp. The front speakers have large external crossovers which must be mounted somewhere and this is a picture of my amp. I am trying to figure out a way to install this amp, but also still have access to the spare tire. The amp doesn't seem to fit under that over hang in the trunk which contains the convertible equipment. My only idea is to mount the amp and the crossovers under the back seat. I've never taken the seat up and have no idea how much space is under there. Hey, any idea is encouraged, i'm just trying to figure this situation out real quick, thanks.

Pasting these images, an idea has come to me...If I were to raise that wheel cover carpet a couple inches and mount the crossovers and amp under it...hmmmm, that would take some planning and work I believe, but could be good.

Why not build some sort of 'rack' out of mdf that slants forward enough to fit the amp under there?

          Probably your best bet.

There really isnt anywhere to mount that kind of stuff under your seat. Your gas tank is directly below that.

          Good luck.

Lack of space and complete lack of ventilation rule out under the rear seat.

Tru tru. Hey Kencopper...what is mdf, you said make a pull out rack out of this? I'm pretty good at things like this, so I probably could make a pull out rack. But my question is, have you ever seen any examples like this on the internet, so I can get a better visual? What do you guys think of mounting the amp and crossovers under the trunk carpet? I have seen somethin like this a bunch of times in pictures but never close up. Is the ventilation alright, or is there some special way of building it out so there is ventilation? Probably what I need is some sort of music site that shows people installations. I'm gonna look around the web, if you guys know of any places, let me know. Thanks.

I mounted mine under the driver & passenger seats due to space constraints in the trunk.

When my amp comes in, I'll likely be doing that. Or I'll just mount the amp on the side of the trunk.

BTW, can someone with a cabrio measure the height of the rear of the trunk? Without the liner its about 12", but I'd like to know how tall my box can be WITH the liner installed. Yeah, it'll be tight.

Rear as in right behind the back seat is like 10.75" (+/- .25" probably) 11 may be pushing it. I'd have a picture of a measuring tape but my camera battery pooped out as i was about to snap one.

                        Cool, thanks.

Going a bit off-topic: Are there any cons to angling subs up slightly? I was hoping my 10's would fit, but it sounds like it would be too tight.

I dont see why there would be any cons, there's subs mounted flat, straight up and down and anything in between.
Look at some of the pictures here http://www.lightav.com/ces/ces.html

id mount amp and cross overs on the back wall of the trunk. the only problem i have with putting my amp in the trunk is that there is no circulation of air and the heat from the amp and exhaust build up quickly, expecially on summer days here in texas. a couple cooling fans (computer fans or whatever) blowing on your amp should help alot.

10 inch subwofers will fit if they are in a correctly built enclosure. theres only two types of subwoofer enclosures i have seen for the cabrio, but since im at work, i cant post any pictures. from experience, pretty much the only way your going to get a good amount of your bass into the cabin is to cut a hole in those double plates behind the back seat. right now i have 2 10"s in a bandpass box i made myself. both subs setting cone up firing into the ported section of the box. the port runs through the double steel plates and out the seat belt holder into the cabin.

I have seen upto 4 10 inch subs fitted into a cabrio trunk in a different enclosure, never heard how it sounds though.
