If Cabrio trunks have the same ventilation passages as other E30 trunks, I don't see ventilation being a problem. If anything our trunks are way more ventilated than other cars.Originally posted by chriskb3id mount amp and cross overs on the back wall of the trunk. the only problem i have with putting my amp in the trunk is that there is no circulation of air and the heat from the amp and exhaust build up quickly, expecially on summer days here in texas. a couple cooling fans (computer fans or whatever) blowing on your amp should help alot.Comment

I have had heat issues (in 100 degree heat running the amps for 12 hours at a time) which is why I moved mine inside under the seats.Originally posted by Mystikal[If Cabrio trunks have the same ventilation passages as other E30 trunks, I don't see ventilation being a problem. And do other car trunks manage to work under those conditions?Originally posted by parkerbinkI have had heat issues (in 100 degree heat running the amps for 12 hours at a time) which is why I moved mine inside under the seats.Originally posted by Mystikal[If Cabrio trunks have the same ventilation passages as other E30 trunks, I don't see ventilation being a problem. This is like complaining about tires that wear out after 12 hours of track driving. Kinda out of context, especially when the guy never mentioned anything about providng music for an all-day festival at the equator.Comment

Did I say something offensive? I think not. I provided my experiene. Since I moved my amps I have had no problem.Originally posted by MystikalAnd do other car trunks manage to work under those conditions?Originally posted by parkerbinkI have had heat issues (in 100 degree heat running the amps for 12 hours at a time) which is why I moved mine inside under the seats.Originally posted by Mystikal[If Cabrio trunks have the same ventilation passages as other E30 trunks, I don't see ventilation being a problem. I have had amps in the trunk of many other cars and driven all day without issue so I think the BMW trunk is more air restrictive.
Chill out, man.

i have found this to be true.
in addition to the smaller trunk space (less air volume), and a double steel wall (which keeps more heat in and cool out from the cabin), theres also no ski hole which when opened can allow a lot better air flow and cooling in the trunk.Comment

Haha, reading this after work I sure came off like an asshole. Sweet.Originally posted by parkerbinkDid I say something offensive? I think not. I provided my experiene. Oh, I'm better now. I got the A/C converted today finally and picked up the car this afternoon; it's been 90+ for the past few days and is forcasted to continue like this for a while. That, plus the fact that I haven't even driven the car since spending all night Sunday installing my new Konis probably led to my Eurospeed-esque PMSing earlier. :PComment

Since we're way OT, I've got another cabrio question.
I've seen pics of e30 cabrio setups with the sub(s) firing upwards. How is this better than facing back? I'm thinking about building my box at an upwards angle. Does the angle really matter?

the angle dosnt matter, atleast not in the trunk of a cabrio. i think the main reason for having subwoofers firing upwards is more of a space issue more than anything else. ive had 2 12 inch subwoofers firing upwards only because they would not fit if they were mounted in a box vertically.Comment

Exactly why mine are firing up. er were, whole stereo is in the closet since the car is out of commission.Originally posted by chriskb3the angle dosnt matter, atleast not in the trunk of a cabrio. i think the main reason for having subwoofers firing upwards is more of a space issue more than anything else. ive had 2 12 inch subwoofers firing upwards only because they would not fit if they were mounted in a box vertically.
